Fashion Business & Promotion

(Year 2)

Visual Merchandising

For this module, we needed to come up with a visual merchandising strategy for Selfridges Birmingham. They wanted us to create an environmental and ‘Material World’ Visual Merchandising strategy for them to encourage consumers to be more ethical. We chose to go down the skincare route and focusing at an older generation that are wanting slightly more expensive but ethical skincare.

Events Management

The Events Management Module was a group module and also so much fun!! We were raising money for a local charity St. Basils. Our group decided to come up with a crazy theme of Magic Mike, we wanted to do something outlandish and something that people would want to come to…We had to raise all the money to put our event on and this consisted of cake sales, raffles and even a Man vs Food event which was so much fun. When it came to our Magic Mike event night we sold out the entire venue and made over £500!

International Retailing

International Retailing was a really great module which applied both my business knowledge with my creative flair. For this module we had to choose a brand that wasn’t yet global and internationalise them. For me I chose bridal brand, Kleinfeld. The brand is massively famous in America with their own TV show ‘Say Yes to The Dress’, so I thought introducing this to the UK would be the perfect fit as Britons watch the show over here also. I created a business plan looking at the brand in depth and how exactly I would internationalise the brand. As well as this, we had to come up with a marketing strategy on how we would advertise and promote the brand when it comes over to the UK.
